Mr. Phan has excelled in several areas during his life, but perhaps none more than photography, which has been his passion for over fifteen years. He has been accorded by the prestigious Royal Photographic Society of England its the highest distinction-Fellowship, making him one of the few Vietnamese to ever receive this honor. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Vietnam Photographic Society of Northern California.
He has been both a judge and gold medal winner of international art photo competitions on several occasions. His sports photography has won international prizes, as have his portraiture and nudes.
In his professional life, Mr. Phan has been a successful executive at several Silicon Valley companies. He has recently retired to devote more time for his photography and to study. He received his B.A. and M.S. degrees in Accounting and is now engaged in writing his Ph.D. dissertation.
His portrait entitled "Daddy! We Missed Ya!" received a gold medal for Best Portrait at the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP) in Europe. In it, we see a soldier transported thousands of miles from the battlefield by a letter from home. |
